GLOW FESTIVAL OF LIGHT in 15 pictures (nov 2014)
.
Festivals of light appear in a number of cities all over the world. Eindhoven forms the base where Philips developed its lightning technology, which turns the “city-of- light” into a natural habitat for the festival of light, called GLOW. Every year light artists invent new ways to enlighten the city. The week in november attracts some 600.000 visiters walking in wonder in the citycenter, which for that occasion is made car free.
Pictures nr 3, 4 and 14 are shot with the Fuji XE2 (18-55/2.8-4.0), the rest with the Panasonic GF1 (14-45/3.5-5.6 and 20/1.7). Everything in RAW, developed in lightroom. To avoid very high ISO (especially with Panasonic) and camera shake I occasionally use a walking pole for some support. Because the cirumstances of Glow don’t ask for fine detail, the smaller micro 4/3 sensor does not suffer from the detail loss, which is certainly there. The colours stay reasenably strong in this difficult light. Fuji X shows no real problem whatsoever.
