fading old graveyard

OLD ST. MARTIN’S GRAVEYARD                                                in 10 pictures  (dec 2021)

The old Roman Catholic St.Martin graveyard in Eindhoven is possibly a couple of hundred years old. Once in a small village, nowadays as part of the bigger city. Because of its age, the stones are slowly fading away. The same is true for the statues of Jesus, as can be seen on lots of the burial-stones. As a place of eternal rest, it is a peaceful place as I feel it.

The statues of Jesus clearly are fading away into nothing but dust. One might say that Jesus should not disappear as a figure of eternal life. But as the dead people are slowly disapearing into dust, so does Jesus. In this way he is guiding and accompanying the dead all the way long. Never leaving them alone, together travelling into dust. Whether you do or do not believe in Jesus Christ as the son of God, to me it feels as a very comforting  thought.

All pictures are shot with the pocketable panasonic GM5 systemcamera, and the miniature 12-32 mm/@ 3.5-5.6 lens. Everything in RAW files is processed in Lightroom 6 classic. A very small and versitile camera-lens combination with  good image-quality.
